2,522 tonnes of clothing collected

The sales are known to everyone: these are two intense commercial periods in the year for aficionados of good deals. In order to bring a more social and supportive dimension, the Balexert center installed a collection bin for unused clothes and shoes, from June 17 to July 20, 2024. The items thus collected during the five weeks of sales were donated to a Geneva association for the most deprived.

For this operation, carried out since January 2023, Balexert has partnered with the Geneva Red Cross, which collects and redistributes the clothes placed in this dumpster free of charge or at a low price. This action perfectly complements its basic mission: to provide local assistance to people in difficulty living in Geneva. Its activities with all vulnerable people, particularly children, young people, families and the elderly, aim above all to promote their health and preserve their dignity. Donations thus make it possible to create an ultra-local impact.

Each year, more than 90 tonnes of clothing are sorted, prepared, then sold or donated, most of which comes from donations. In 2023, Balexert contributed 6 tonnes thanks to your generosity!

This support also directly contributes to the success of the Vet’Shop second-hand stores, a service that supports the activities of the Geneva Red Cross in favor of the most vulnerable. This service allows people in need to clothe themselves at a low price, or even free of charge depending on their situation, while participating in the professional reintegration of store employees as well as those in their textile recycling area.
