Balexert records its best frequenting in 10 years

With an increase in attendance of 6.3% and an increase in brand turnover of 3.4% compared to 2022, Balexert proves that stationary commerce still has a bright future ahead of it.

The year 2023 was synonymous with constant growth in terms of attendance for the center. With a total of 8,681,537 visitors in 2023, the center returns to a level of attendance comparable to that of 2013. Given a downward trend over the past ten years, this performance deserves to be highlighted. Twenty days saw more than 40,000 visitors flock to Balexert with a peak of 49,000 visitors on the single day of Saturday November 4, 2023.

The symbolic milestone of the 8,500,000th visitor was reached on Tuesday December 26 and had not been exceeded since 2016.

The attachment of customers to the center and the new attractiveness of the completely renovated places are at the origin of these excellent results and allow Balexert to position itself in 2nd place among shopping centers on the Swiss market.

Home stretch for renovation

In 2023 Balexert began its final transformation with work to refresh the car parks. In addition, the balexert.ch website has been redesigned and proudly displays references to the architecture of the center, as well as a decidedly more modern design.

Balexert, a leading local social and economic player

Initiated two years ago, a major energy optimization program aimed at reducing electricity and heating consumption by around 20%, continued into 2023. The Christmas decorations, which had been maintained completely extinguished in 2022, were completely illuminated in 2023, however according to a restricted schedule. Beyond energy savings, the aim was to make visitors to the center aware of a certain level of energy sobriety.

In terms of its local commitment, Balexert continues to support the (Balexert) 20km of Geneva, the Geneva Servette Hockey Club (GSHC) and the Curling champions, the Team Schwaller of Geneva. Balexert is also committed to sailor Maud Jayet, to support her in her next challenge at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Not to be outdone are the charitable and non-profit associations that Balexert supports throughout the year, in particular by collecting donations thanks to the activities offered in the center. More than CHF 20,000.- was thus able to be redistributed to various local charities.

With its partners, its loyal customers and a thousand people who work every day to make this small town a place to live and meet, Balexert is approaching the year 2024 with confidence.
