Balexert partners with the Lions Club of Geneva for the recycling of eyeglasses

The opticians Balexert, Acuitis, Alain Afflelou, and Visilab are partnering with the Geneva Lions Club to recycle your eyeglasses.

The Geneva Lions Club, a member of Lions Clubs International, was the first Lions Club founded in Switzerland (1948). As a service club, it is co-ed and has around one hundred members. The Lions Club’s motto is “SERVICE,” and each year it organizes one or more community service projects entirely on a volunteer basis.

The Geneva Lions Club has decided to support the “Eyeglass Recycling” initiative by fully committing to collecting as many old eyeglasses as possible. This collection includes prescription glasses, sunglasses, and eyeglass cases. Once the glasses are collected, our work will consist of sorting the materials by category, assembling them, and shipping everything to France. Lions Clubs in France will finance the refurbishment of the glasses. This work will be carried out by specialists. The “new glasses” will then be shipped to the various participating countries and distributed by Lions Club members in those countries. Eyeglass recycling therefore has a major impact, and the slogan “USED GLASSES, RENEWED VISION” takes on its full meaning.

By joining this initiative, you are making a significant contribution to protecting eyesight by enabling the provision of recycled eyeglasses to children and adults around the world.
